Caitlyn Mooney, MD- Sports Medicine Physician

Dr. Caitlyn Mooney is a pediatric sports medicine physician and Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She serves as Head Team Physician for Vanderbilt Women’s Soccer, Cheer, and Dance, and works with Track & Field and Cross Country athletes.

Prior to joining Vanderbilt, Dr. Mooney practiced in San Antonio, Texas, where she was the only pediatric primary care sports medicine physician in the region at the time.

Her clinical interests include youth and young adult sports medicine, overuse injuries, bone stress injuries, and concussions. She is particularly focused on optimizing care for developing athletes and improving how sports medicine recognizes and manages conditions in this population.

Dr. Mooney is also actively involved in medical education and the mentoring of medical trainees. She contributes nationally through organizations including the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

In her free time she enjoys cycling, mountain biking, and horse back riding.

She has clinics in Antioch, TN and Nashville, TN
